Great Striper Fishing Continues on Lanier.

Report Date: June 30, 2009

Shane Watson's Lake Lanier Fishing Report for Tuesday (6-30-09). Since my last report we've had our boats out on trips everyday and the striper fishing has been strong, especially if you can get on some fish by yourself. Try to avoid fishing in these big groups of boats, as your size and numbers will be reduced dramatically if 3 or more boats fish on top of each other. There are biting stripers in the mouths to the middle of most every creek and some smaller trolling fish out on the main channel at mid-lake. This morning, inspite of the cooler weather and windy conditions, the downline and power reeling bite was very good. Fresh bluebacks fished 30 to 40 feet deep over a 40 to 60 feet bottom just off points are working well. Our boats have been scattered from down south to mid-lake and the fish are showing up on all the usual summertime locations. There are also a few schools of fish showing up out in the main channel at mid-lake on leadcore and a downline, but we are a couple of weeks away from the better numbers getting out there. For us, the bigger average size fish are showing up in the middle to the mouths of creeks on live bait. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing.
